Messer Construction, Cincinnati, OH is on its way to renovating Scioto Hall to create 450 beds for students on campus., while using our Metro Elevator twin US60-2R Champion Hoist.
The 142,000-square-foot, 16-story building is not currently being used for housing. Not including campus housing offices and painting studios, university architect Mary Beth McGrew said Scioto Hall has been mostly empty for a few years. Scioto will be a sister facility to Morgens Hall.
The Scioto Hall project will be funded with $32 million in debt and $3 million from UC’s Campus Services. Construction is set to be complete in 2016. In the future, McGrew said she expects to present a comprehensive campus housing study to the board of trustees that analyzes the university’s future needs including the renovation schedule of existing buildings . So just maybe there will be more Metro hoists at the University of Cincinnati in the future.
