University of Cincinnati Gets a Metro Elevator Twin Car Hoist for Scioto Hall

Messer Construction, Cincinnati, OH is on its way to renovating Scioto Hall to create 450 beds for students on campus., while using our Metro Elevator twin US60-2R Champion Hoist.

The 142,000-square-foot, 16-story building is not currently being used for housing. Not including campus housing offices and painting studios, university architect Mary Beth McGrew said Scioto Hall has been mostly empty for a few years. Scioto will be a sister facility to Morgens Hall.

The Scioto Hall project will be funded with $32 million in debt and $3 million from UC’s Campus Services. Construction is set to be complete in 2016. In the future, McGrew said she expects to present a comprehensive campus housing study to the board of trustees that analyzes the university’s future needs including the renovation schedule of existing buildings . So just maybe there will be more Metro hoists at the University of Cincinnati in the future.
